Yes, you can safely skip your period while using NuvaRing. Insert a new ring immediately after taking out the previous one to prevent menstrual bleeding.
Using NuvaRing to Skip Periods
If you want to skip your period, simply insert a new birth control ring and leave it there for four weeks, instead of three. The ring should be removed at the end of the fourth week and immediately replaced by a new ring. Your level of protection against pregnancy will remain the same and you may experience fewer menstrual symptoms if you skip your period using this birth control method.
Solutions for Spotting
When you use NuvaRing to skip your period, you may experience some irregular bleeding or spotting at first. Typically, the spotting will stop after a few months of continuous use if you always replace your previous ring on the same day.
You can safely use tampons, pads, or menstrual cups with the NuvaRing if you’re concerned about bleeding, but always check to make sure the ring is not accidentally pulled out when removing tampons or menstrual cups. If it does come out, simply rinse the ring in cool to lukewarm water and immediately reinsert it.
