How Does Liletta Work?

Liletta is inserted into your uterus by a health care provider. They will push an applicator through your cervix and then release the IUD, letting the arms open up to create a T shape. Your doctor will typically conduct an ultrasound after the application to make sure that the IUD is placed correctly, minimizing the risk of complications. Liletta does not need to be inserted through surgery and the procedure typically only takes a few minutes.
Less than one of out 100 women who use Liletta will have an accidental pregnancy each year. This makes Liletta and other IUDs one of the most effective options for pregnancy prevention on the market.
How Can You Get Liletta?

You need a health care provider to insert this birth control device for you. Schedule an appointment with your doctor to discuss Liletta as a birth control option. Your doctor will likely conduct a pelvic exam to make sure your uterus is ideal for an IUD.
Liletta costs around $700, but the cost for insertion and the ultrasound may increase the overall price. Liletta needs to be placed by a medical professional to make sure that it is safely in the uterine cavity. Without careful placement, Liletta is at risk for falling out or puncturing the reproductive system. Punctures can cause internal bleeding that can lead to infections like sepsis. They can also become serious enough to require surgery for removal. However, in the hands of a medical professional, the risks of expulsion or puncture are minimal.
What Are Some Side Effects of Liletta?

Everyone experiences birth control side effects differently. While some women might not have any side effects at all, other women using Liletta may experience heavy cramps and bleeding, breast tenderness, headaches, nausea, and acne.
Most women experience lighter periods on Liletta and your periods may stop entirely while using this IUD.
Does Liletta Cause Acne?

While these instances are uncommon when using Liletta, some patients may experience worse acne after IUD insertion. Any changes in hormones can cause the body to experience side effects, though these may clear up over time.
Does Liletta Cause Hair Loss?

Hair loss is one of the infrequent and rare side effects of Liletta. However, it is possible to experience changes in your hair as a result of the IUD.
What Else Should I Know About Liletta?

When Liletta is placed, you may feel pain and dizziness for about half an hour after. However, these symptoms should improve over time. Similarly, some women report cramps and irregular bleeding for the month after Liletta is inserted. Schedule a follow-up appointment with your doctor to make sure Liletta is in its right place and not causing too many problems.
