Nurx Now Available in 3 More States!
Starting this month Nurx prescribes and delivers birth control and more to Louisiana, Wyoming and Rhode Island.
It’s the Nurx mission to make healthcare more accessible to as many people as possible, so we’re all super-happy to announce that we’ve launched our services in three more states: Wyoming, Louisiana, and Rhode Island. Now people in these states can connect with the caring and compassionate Nurx medical team to get birth control, prescription skincare, migraine treatment, herpes medication, PrEP, home testing and more. Already a leading telehealth provider in 32 other states, Nurx has delivered personalized care to more than 1 million patients.
“We’re committed to providing people with the high-quality care they need and deserve, especially for treatments that can be difficult to access or health needs that are often tied to shame or judgment,” said Nurx CEO Varsha Rao. “As the pandemic has created more barriers to care, we are pleased to offer people in Wyoming, Louisiana and Rhode Island a better option from the comfort and convenience of their homes.”
Patients can request care online, any time, no appointment required and connect with a Nurx medical provider licensed in their state. The medical provider then prescribes treatment or tests (if appropriate) and Nurx delivers medication or a test kit to the patient’s door, with automatic medication refills as needed. Unlike many telehealth providers, Nurx bills insurance for medication, and offers affordable out-of-pocket prices for those without insurance. Nurx patients have unlimited access to the medical team for one year, or for the length of their prescriptions.
Demand for telemedicine has grown rapidly throughout the U.S. during the COVID-19 pandemic, and people in every state deserve access to the solutions telemedicine can provide.
Louisiana ranks 40th out of the 50 states in access to primary care and last for high-risk HIV behaviors. The state is in the midst of an epidemic of sexually transmitted infections, with the second highest chlamydia infection rate of any state and the third highest rate of gonorrhea infection, and 60% of pregnancies in Louisiana are unplanned.
Wyoming has been described as a “poster child for telehealth” by a representative of the Wyoming Medical Society because the state’s many rural areas often lack medical providers and require patients to travel large distances to receive in-person care for treatments such as migraines, skin conditions and birth control.
Recent data reveals Rhode Island has over 64,000 women in need who live in contraceptive deserts, meaning they lack reasonable access to comprehensive birth control options.[v]
Nurx now allows patients in these states to access vital care without barriers such as waiting for an appointment, taking time away from work or family for doctor visits or pharmacy trips, and high or uncertain costs.
Nurx is available in 36 states, encompassing more than 90 percent of the U.S. population, and we hope to launch in the remaining states soon.
