How It Works

1

Complete an online evaluation.

learn more

You’ll answer a comprehensive set of questions to see if mental health treatment through Nurx is right for you and allow a Nurx medical provider to evaluate your symptoms and state of mind. This uses industry-standard screening questions similar to what you would complete when starting treatment with an in-person mental health professional, but you can get started any time, no appointment needed.

2

A Nurx medical provider will respond.

learn more

If Nurx services are right for you, a member of our medical team with special training in treating menopause depression will evaluate your responses and, if you are a candidate for our telehealth treatment, will be in touch via secure message within 1-2 days.

3

We deliver treatment, and ongoing care.

If you are prescribed medication, our pharmacy will deliver it to your door and your medical provider will stay in touch to make sure it’s working for you, adjust your treatment or dose as needed and provide ongoing medication advice.

Get Back To Your Best

Menopause Depression Treatment

Your Nurx medical provider will create a menopause depression treatment plan for you (if medically appropriate) after reviewing your health history and symptoms. Initial treatment is usually daily medication called a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), and Nurx prescribes and delivers a few different SSRIs as well as other medications (SNRIs, tricyclics, bupropion and trazodone). Individual factors determine which medication will be most effective and our medical provider will partner with you to get it right. Note: Treatment usually works best when combined with non-medical therapy such as talk therapy.

Medications We Prescribe

We bill insurance for your medication, and copays are as little as $0-$10 per month. The out-of-pocket price for medication is $25 per month.

Please note: Nurx does not prescribe benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Valium and Ativan), stimulants (such as Adderall or Concerta), or any controlled substances.

Got Any Questions?

  • How does menopause depression treatment with Nurx work?

Whether you suspect you are experiencing menopause depression, or have been diagnosed with this condition in the past, you can request treatment from Nurx any time through our website or app. You’ll answer a comprehensive set of questions similar to the intake you would complete when starting treatment with an in-person mental health professional. Your answers to these questions will allow your Nurx medical provider to evaluate your symptoms, make a diagnosis and (if medically appropriate) create a treatment plan.

Within two days of submitting your request for treatment a Nurx medical provider licensed in your state will send a message to your Nurx account to ask any follow up questions and propose a treatment plan. You’ll have the chance to share any information and ask any questions you’d like. Once your medical provider has prescribed treatment our pharmacy will fill your prescription and your medication will arrive in the mail.

Your medical provider will follow up regularly to monitor how your medication is working, and adjust treatment as needed, and you can message them any time with questions or to request adjustments.

  • How much does menopause depression treatment with Nurx cost?

Treatment through Nurx costs $69 per month, which includes a licensed medical provider evaluating your intake assessment, creating and prescribing your treatment plan, and managing your medication needs on an ongoing basis.

We bill insurance for your medication, and copays are as little as $0-$10 per month. The out-of-pocket price for most medication is $25 per month, and shipping is always free.

  • What medications does Nurx prescribe for menopause depression?

Your Nurx medical provider will create a personalized treatment plan based on your symptoms and health history. Nurx prescribes and delivers a comprehensive selection of mental health treatments including SSRIs, SNRIs, tricyclic antidepressants, bupropion (generic Wellbutrin), trazodone, and medications that may be used to treat panic attacks. The Nurx medical team prescribes these treatments according to evidence-based clinical guidelines and based on each patient’s individual symptoms and health history.

  • What types of depression does Nurx treat?

Nurx treats mild and moderate depression, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Premenstrual Dysmorphic Disorder (PMDD). We may also treat patients with stable postpartum depression, if they are already on medication. However, our medical team evaluates each patient individually and will only prescribe treatment to patients who they determine can be safely and appropriately cared for through telehealth.

  • What does the monthly cost cover?

There isn’t a one-size-fits all treatment for mental health conditions — the medication/s and the dose that work best varies by individual patient and may change for that patient over time. For that reason, you may need to communicate with our medical team regularly at the beginning of your treatment to make sure you achieve good results. Once your treatment plan is established our medical team will check in throughout the year, to confirm that the treatment is working and adjust if needed. Nurx patients can message the medical team any time to ask questions about their treatment or request prescription adjustments. This ongoing care and unlimited access to our medical team costs $69 per month (in addition to the copay or cost of your medication), even if there are months when you don’t communicate with us. Please note that Nurx does not provide therapy or counseling.

  • Does Nurx offer online therapy?

Nurx does not currently offer therapy or counseling. For therapy resources, including finding a therapist and digital support based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) click here.
